Managing Holiday Stress With 4 Simple Strategies

Dinners, decorations, traditions, and time off- all of these things are things many of us look forward to during the holiday season. Unfortunately, this can also be paired with difficult family dynamics, planning big meals and parties, and stressing about which gifts to purchase and when. We’ve all been there. But, this year I vowed to not let myself get so caught up in the stress of the season that I forget to enjoy the precious time with family and friends. I’m going to share 4 tips with you that I’ve used to help manage the stress that comes with the holidays in a more effective way so that I am able to take care of myself and my family well during this season. Here’s what we’ll cover in this episode: 


(2:19) Happy Thanksgiving! Let the holiday season begin…

(6:45) Tip #1: Prioritize. Especially if you are working and hosting. You are going to be pulled, just make sure it’s in the right direction. 

(10:08) Tip #2: Let 90 percent go. Emotional stuff, physical stuff, all of it. Let go of that desire for perfection. Think about what events or tasks you can skip during this season! 

(14:02) Coping ahead. Figure out what might trigger you and determine how you are going to handle it in advance

(16:28) Be realistic. Don’t put unnecessary expectations on you or others. 

(16:58) Tip #3: Schedule non-time. You knew this was coming. Time for yourself keeps you in the right frame of mind to handle the small things that will go wrong. Disappear for a minute if you need to! 

(20:22) Tip #4: Remember your reason. Why are you doing all these things and hosting all these people? Enjoy these things! 

The holidays can be such a stressful time but, friend, it doesn’t have to be.
