Gender Bias in Medicine

In this episode, I am joined by Dr. Arghavan Salles,a fellowship trained minimally invasive and bariatric surgeon from Stanford. In addition to being a skilled surgeon, she also has her PhD in education from Stanford in education. Her research focuses on gender equity, diversity, inclusion and well being. She has written and spoken about her experiences being a COVID frontline worker with Newsweek, NBC and CBS. She has numerous publications and has given over 80 national and international talks.


Today, we are discussing the implicit bias that still exists in the medical field, navigating societal expectations and the emotional and mental toll that takes on women and strategies such as sponsorship to combat this. If you are a woman in medicine Let’s dive in.
