Does My Child Need Glasses?
5 Signs Your Child Might Need Glasses:
1️⃣ Head tilting or turning - This can signify astigmatism, one eye that’s weaker than the other or even a misaligned eye.
2️⃣ Covering one eye when performing critical vision tasks - Kids do this to avoid blurred or double vision from a weaker eye.
3️⃣ Squinting or straining - Kids might squint for either up close or far away.
4️⃣ Short attention span when reading - Sometimes kids get misdiagnosed with ADHD when in reality they need a simple pair of glasses. Wouldn’t you be unable to pay attention in class if you couldn’t see well??
5️⃣ Headaches or eye fatigue - This is what most people think of as the #1 sign of kids needing glasses. But, in reality, it’s actually not the most common.
Did you see what wasn’t on this list??
Blurred vision.
Why?
Because most kids will not complain they can’t see. They don’t know what they’re *supposed* to be seeing, so they won’t tell you they can’t see. That’s why this is one of the least common signs for kids (especially young ones).
And of course if your child is experiencing any of these make sure to take them to your pediatric eye doctor for a full exam.
